Higher sales for Poggenpohl

Despite the economic and financial crisis, Poggenpohl Möbelwerke GmbH continued its growth in the financial year 2008. The manufacturer of premium kitchens in Herford boosted its sales to EUR 128 million, a rise of three percent over the previous year (EUR 124 million). Sales were up by seven percent after adjustment for currency losses.

"Our growth line is still upwards and we have expanded our market position in the premium segment despite the exceedingly difficult conditions," explained Poggenpohl's Managing Director Elmar Duffner. In the past five years, the company boosted its sales from EUR 76 million in 2003 to EUR 128 million today. The workforce also grew 27 percent to 571 in total during the same period. Poggenpohl employs 406 men and women in Germany.

The manufacturer of premium fitted kitchens has also continued to invest in its worldwide network of salesrooms. In the first quarter of 2009, new kitchen studios were opened in Houston, Philadelphia, London and Bremen, for example, increasing the number of own Poggenpohl studios to 35 worldwide. In mid-year, the company will also open a new studio in Dallas (USA) as well as the company's first studio for the Asian market in Tokyo.

Poggenpohl was founded in 1892 by Friedemir Poggenpohl. Since then, Germany's oldest kitchen brand has become one of the world's most famous kitchen brands. The name Poggenpohl stands for tradition, high quality,
exclusivity and innovative development.
 
The company markets its premium kitchens through own studios and trade partners in more than 70 countries. Since 2000, Poggenpohl Möbelwerke GmbH has been part of the Swedish Nobia Group, the largest manufacturer of kitchen furniture in Europe.
