Poggenpohl now ranks first among German kitchen manufacturers

The oldest and also best known kitchen brand worldwide, Poggenpohl also ranks first among premium manufacturers in Germany. According to a survey undertaken by the Munich brand agency Brand Rating on behalf of the journal "Wirtschaftswoche", Poggenpohl ranks sixth among the Top 30 German premium brands, making it the highest-ranking furniture brand in the country (Wirtschaftswoche No. 34 dated 17 August 2009, p. 42).

According to the magazine, "the kitchen company has advanced, through its consistent brand policy, to the top of the table of German luxury brands". As one of the Top 10, Poggenpohl is in the best society, topped only by noble brands including A. Lange & Söhne (which leads the field of luxury brands), Maybach, Glashütte, Porsche and Wiesmann. "We are proud of this rating, for it confirms that our business model is consistently oriented towards the premium segment," says Poggenpohl's managing director Elmar Duffner.

Specialists at the Brand Rating agency survey a total of 100 luxury brands in Germany every two years in order to draw up a ranking of the 30 top brands. The factors investigated include price bonus, price level and brand appeal. The luxury brands are additionally evaluated in 150 expert meetings.

Poggenpohl was founded as a manufacturer of premium kitchens in 1892 by Friedemir Poggenpohl. The company designs and builds exclusive, deluxe kitchens for discerning customers solely at its location in Herford. Poggenpohl kitchens are distributed to more than 70 countries through the company's own kitchen studios and exclusive retail outlets.

Poggenpohl employs 570 men and women worldwide, generating total sales of 128 million euros in the financial year 2008. Since 2000, Poggenpohl Möbelwerke GmbH has been a member of the Swedish Nobia Group, Europe's largest kitchen manufacturer.
